Are you fine with paying $50,000 a year to separate this person from society because he cheated some company? Are we really taking corporate personhood in this direction now?

Arguably he reduced the payout of real musicians by doing this, so he did harm real people too.

Careful with that line of reasoning though because artists have been hurt by spotify more than they were hurt by this guy.

You don't have to go that far for bad stuff Spotifys done - at minimum they used pirated libraries back at their start, etc, and they've overall contributed to less payouts for artists. Kind of the Uber of music.

I don’t believe that people running this kind of scam are engaging in careful moral reasoning about acceptable victims. The man who did this would surely have stolen $50,000 from my grandma if he thought he saw a clever way to get away with it.
