It reminds me of object oriented programming. There was a time when OO was going to revolutionize everything. Ordinary people would make their own programs. Programmers would 10x their productivity. Companies sprinkled it in their marketing materials the way they do “AI” today. People put it on their resumes.
It didn’t revolutionize everything but it did quietly take over. Almost every production language has some version of it and pretty much everybody uses it.
LLMs are changing rapidly so I won’t even try to speculate about where they’ll end up, but that’s how it looks now.
