In the US maybe, but in Europe weakening demand for wine is certainly a very public and well-known issue. Especially in France.

Non-wine consumption on the other hand has remained steady (beer up, spirits down, about the same amount)
Given France's wine consumption was far higher (8.5 in 2000, 5.5 today) than say Germany (steady at about 3 since 2000)
