That people I call and call me every day, business people who I have dozens of calls with a month, and strangers (say a dentist office or new contact) all behave about the same made me think it was not as simple as over suspicious spam filtering. I also get a few spam calls a week, which both show up on missed call logs and sometimes leave voice messages.
