"Manufactured crisis" implies an intentional crisis for PR purposes. You don't understand the technology if you think people won't use unsafeguarded models to create viruses. You can do it at home.
They made the models. They're responsible for what happens with them. Own it, all of it.
More government involvement is not the answer. Police your own stuff. Own it when things go sideways. Fix it.
I'm not trying to say safety isn't an issue. It sure is. But THEY need to own it, and do it themselves, and own all the consequences when bad things happen.
Why do you think they aren't fixing it and owning it? They obviously are.
They are calling for regulation because while they are fixing things, obviously every random reckless company cannot be trusted to. You need laws.
