This is decision laundering with AI, plain and simple. Go into any sufficiently "patriotic" forum and you won't have trouble finding people defending the strike to "break IRGC officer's spirit" or similar.
I say, as I always keep saying, that powerful people are just like regular people and believe all the stupid things regular people do. So if some regular people go "teach those IRGC pigs a lesson, hit them where it hurts!", some powerful people do too.
We already know they committed one deliberate war crime, the double tap strike. The simplest explanation is that the targeting was a deliberate war crime too.
The only way to reject that obvious conclusion is to cling to the belief in "professional leadership", that there's some reserve supply of serious, competent people, better than the lot of us, and that they're in charge. That's got to be one of the world's most harmful ideas.
