Why do you think it’s (more) interesting?

Because the author's proud ignorance sheds some light on the article's authenticity and validity of claims (or the complete lack thereof).

Proud ignorance? With such many references to support his point it looks pretty informed to me.

Did you chase those references? A core premise and complaint is entirely false.

This is an article and author that is tailored for AI curmudgeons or an AI rejectionist to self-assure themselves that their worldview is the only correct one. Facts seem to be a nuisance at best here for the author, and helpful phrases like "garbage", "vile", "human toll", "psychopaths" undermine all chances or credibility for a reasonable take or conversation.

Did you feel targeted by the author's criticisms of the AI industry? If so, why do you think that is?

Not at all, I can just identify dishonest arguments.

Why do you ask questions with obvious ulterior motives though?

The AI ship has already sailed. You won't lose your job to AI, but to another person using AI better than you. Do you really want to spend hours writing boring one-off shell and test scripts? Even a selective use of AI is better, or at least a personal policy of reviewing and understanding every line of code. Not some blanket no AI policy...

We have to manage it better, introduce guardrails, adversarial agents, better harnesses, etc.

All valid points but a personal boycott is not the solution.

I have yet to see AI bros demonstrate the amazing boost of output that's supposed to be brought about by AI. If anything, software quality continues to get worse, and releases are slower to come out. More importantly, not everyone wants to forever pay AI companies to be able to understand and maintain their own code.
