That's such a simplification. Canada has a respectful relationship with EU whereas the leader of the neighbors to the south has repeatedly hinted at annexation of Canada as a 51th state. How can you negotiate trade deals respectfully with this neighbor?
For Canada to be independent and free you need to ask permission from your king first.
Canada gained the right to remove the king in 1982. It would require unanimous consent from Parliament and all 10 provinces.
