As an EUian: Do it. It's worth it. It's once in a century opportunity and maybe the only viable path for Europe.

Honestly, I'm old enough to remember how it was before EU and I can't imagine going back too that.

The main issue i see is the euro as a single currency. Individual nations cannot modulate their monetary policy according to their needs.

Most other stuff is okay.

Can you imagine the current US government vs. European countries without the EU?

Yes, because before the EU there was the EEC [1] which was about trade relations without delusions of grandeur related to a United States of Europe.

Can you define cult?

A cult is a small group driven by extreme devotion to a charismatic leader, a specific idea, or an unorthodox set of beliefs.

In this case, the 'small group' is the unelected European Commission (EC) bureaucracy who is desperate to retain power at any cost.

In anycase around 50 % of people in Island want to join the EU. Are they are of the cult?

So they are both inside and outside the 'cult' at the same time.
