Thank you (and thanks to tzs) - was genuinely curious and wanted to read about it.

No problem it's a pretty interesting statistic one of the articles explains how it might be misleading but it doesn't dispute the numbers.

Yes I found that article (despite the white text at the top) to also be interesting! Thanks again to both of you.

I was wondering why you thanked two people who provided secondary sources (very courteous of you), but not me when I'm who you asked and I provided the source immediately. So I opened the reply in a private window and realized the reply I gave with nothing but exactly what you asked for is [dead], but that fact is hidden from me while logged in: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=49454527

This site is worse than reddit in all of the worst ways.

Sorry to see that - I would have said thank you to you as well had I been able to see your comment. Thanks for trying anyway

Yeah, you seem like a stand-up dude, that's why I was so curious.

Same to you!

CIS is an anti immigration think tank and Washington times is pretty blatantly conservative outlet. I’d be wary of those sources.

Sure but don’t they quote BLS data? Or do you believe their interpretation of the data is incorrect?

I haven't had time to inspect it myself, but off the top of my head, I'd be wary of taking their interpretation at face value.

Are there any sources that you consider more reliable that have analyzed this data? Those were the first 3 articles that came up when I searched the story.
