In fact, you have no idea how ethnicities work in other countries as well. Places as old as China and India have a lot of baggage in terms of ethnicity, culture, and language within their own borders.
Not to mention Africa where those borders where drawn by Europeans that had no interest in how things were actually organized, sometimes lumping together tribes that fucking hated each other for generations in the same country.

I think they would consider themselves white from a different nations. Many north american natives come from different tribes but they are still Indian. Same thing.
