How are diesel cars with a battery counted?

Cars under VAG sell TDI engines with a small battery and call it a hybrid.

pretty much no brands with any relevant sales in Europe besides Mercedes and Mazda produce diesel hybrids

Audi sells 48V diesel mild hybrids, at least where I’m from they make the majority of their sales.

that's what I get for relying on Google, apparently also Audi and BMW sell diesel hybrids in Europe, other brands seem to be max 1 model of private cars
