Wikipedia is an unreliable source especially when it comes to 'narrative-affirming' claims.
He literally used the n-word in a stream, slip of tongue. It was such a big deal back then that even my Bloomberg Terminal thought it was worth mentioning for some reason.
You don't need to attempt to defend a known racist.
