>No matter what I search for, the date filter works.
Can you search for Ceuta and find some articles from 2021? There was a similar incident to the current one in 2021, but searching for it seems to be impossible for me.

I just tried with following: ceuta morocco spain immigration before:2022/11/01
Top 5:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2021_Morocco%E2%80%93Spain_bor...
https://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-57150051
https://www.europeanpapers.eu/europeanforum/unsettling-dejav...
https://www.amnesty.org/zh-hant/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/e...
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S7U9XmpRPQU
4 out of 5 are about 2021 event and the Amnesty report is about 2006 incident but it was updated in 2021 so my primitive search fits.
I hate modern Google search experience as much as everyone else, but in this particular case you can still get some results.
