I doubt they'll do any time at all.

not only will they not do any time but people of the united states will elect them again in november and 2028

People will not elect them but they will nonetheless win the elections. This is disheartening indeed..

this does help any rational conversation. if people go out and vote in numbers they should given what we’ve been through since the last election they will loose like 2018 and 2020

Trump can pardon everyone on the way out, that is if democrats can even win another election due to election interference they're going to do. Based on the amount of corruption and crime they're doing they're don't expect to lose power.

Clinton's path to greatness got the US into the mess that it is in right now, the whole neoliberal agenda is to blame for this.

Nixon opened up china to our manufacturers in 1971.

Nixon promised the VietCong a better deal if they walked away from peace negotiations in 1969.

They're doing great if you're on the beneficiary side: oil companies, defense contractors, the Trump family, Israel, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, etc.

All that is at the expense of the rest of the economy. The sectors that are hit the hardest tend to be, with the exception of those above, the ones who voted (disproportionately) for these people.

... which is what you get with a narcissist. The people hurt the most by a narcissist tend to be those closest or those that support them.

I'm pretty sure that Qatar and the Saudis are not exactly pleased with having their stuff blown up.

Qatar is pretty much screwed as they can't get the gas out of the Gulf. The Saudis will have to eventually do something about Yemen, because Bab Al-Mandab tanker traffic is also under threat and Asia id paying good money for fossil fuels right now.

So many Americans don't understand that these two "branches" of the Muslim world are at odds as much if not more than Israel and the Muslim world.

That whole region is a mess of deep long-standing divisions.

I'd still take UAE vs Saudi, over Iran destabilizing everything in the region (Lebanon, Gaza, Syria, Iraq, Yemen, Western Sahara). Not to mention supporting Russia and North Korea.

Right, the Saudis have never destabilized anything, nor have their embrace of batshit-insane wahhabism created the environment and the people that flew two airplanes into some highrises a few decades ago.

Right the whole conflict UAE has with Saudis is they support Islamists who do stuff like that, which destabilizes the region. That's a good battle to have play out IMO. The fact a power player is even taking that position is pretty great, despite UAEs own flaws and meddling.

Ultimately that clash is still very different than Iran being a self destructive pariah state funding only terrorism and destroyting their own economy through (often socialist) mismanagement.

I think they are finding that a bad peace was better than a good war.

Not only these profits, but there must be hundreds of billions of profits from trading on the volatility of markets. Only a chosen few know what announcement is going to come out today.

Depends on the political perspective. Has the US bet all on AI tech to retain its power? Yes. AI tech currently is very energy intensive. So energy infrastructure too needs money to expand. The "colonisation" of Venezuela has already secured the US one relatively cheap and secure source of energy. The Ukraine-Russia war, and now the Iranian war, allows the US to price gauge Europe on the gas it sells them ( https://www.politico.eu/article/vladimir-putin-war-europe-uk... ). The Iran war is also enriching the oil companies. If Iran can be colonised, another source can be secured for the US too. Or so the thinking goes ... (there are of course other political factors that these kind of energy politics helps the US).
