I think he's saying that Oracle's aggressive branding of MySQL (and other Sun products) has alienated some people.

Right. I don't agree with the OP, I just think that's what he was saying. Salesforce doesn't seem like someone to be put off by aggressive anything.

You mean the copyright notice? It was there before Oracle acquired Sun.

Pretty it sure it isn't the branding that's the problem, it's the brand. Oracle is no friend of open source software projects.
