> Ten people have been arrested so far in a “planned ambush” of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers in north Texas.
> On July 4, the Alvarado Police Department announced that one of its police officers had been shot in the neck after responding to a call without stating the incident occurred outside of an immigration facility. It was the first of two officer involved shootings outside of a federal immigration facility in Texas this week, The Center Square first reported.
> What occurred was “a planned ambush with the intent to kill ICE corrections officers,” Larson said. “Make no mistake, this was not a so-called peaceful protest. It was indeed an ambush” to draw out people from inside “and it worked.”

Moreover, the facilities in which ICE detains people are substandard and inhumane. There exists a major financial conflict of interest with the providers of those facilities.
When it comes to doxxing people, first see https://www.techdirt.com/2025/08/29/house-republicans-want-t...
If someone in plain clothes and a facemask is grabbing someone off the street then how am I supposed to know it's legit?

The reality is that they're wearing masks so that they can act with impunity; they behave as though they're above the law because they know that the people they're working for will never try to hold them accountable, and as long as they're anonymous the public can't hold them accountable either. This means they can do whatever they want to whoever they want and nothing will come of it, so if they want to harass and assault minorities they can do so freely.
Sounds like you are describing ICE's actions?

From family separations and indefinite detentions to systemic patterns of abuse and rights violations, the agency has engaged in conduct that undermines any claim to legitimacy or proportionality. To suggest that external actors are the destabilizing threat, while disregarding ICE's own record of cruelty and lawlessness, inverts the reality of the situation in a way that strains credulity.
Perhaps there’s a more precise way you could describe people who resist ICE, since labeling them "unhinged lunatics" makes your point less clear.
Just to give a specific real life example, when the IRA were fighting the British one of the tactics they would use for some time was to send their female volunteers into the bars where the British soldiers would go drinking on a Friday night to flirt with them and convince them to leave with the girls thinking they would fuck. When they finally got back to the apartment where she said she lived the IRA team would appear to finish the job. You might well argue (I would even say rightly with the benefit of hindsight) that that’s a shitty tactic but that same group of people are now the largest legitimate political party in Ireland and Northern Ireland as far as I know.
But as a larger point, when your job becomes snatching innocent people off the streets with no right to a fair trial to send them to a dungeon in another country to be tortured and they have no hope of escape… I mean… you should probably expect violence in response to that.
I don’t know what on earth gave you the idea that people would just see that happening on a daily basis and just respond with marching in the streets.
A huge chunk of people would have no problem seeing that as a legitimate response. History is absolutely filled with those examples.
I guess I shouldn’t be surprised though, there are a lot of people who wished that President Trump’s assassin had actually succeeded. The far left is developing a frightening violence problem. Murdering people is not the answer.
Attacking the powerless underclass isn't political resistance, that's just plain old xenophobic violence and tyranny.
> We don’t do vigilante justice in this country.
What a wise, noble, and rational position to take when your side is in control of the official government offices and perpetrating unconstitutional and otherwise unlawful violence against anyone deemed to be undesirable.
Unlawful and unconstitutional violence without a due process is the definition of vigilante justice. The fact that it's being perpetrated by people in uniforms doesn't legitimize it unless you believe in autocracy.
Given ICE's documented record of controversial practices, it is unsurprising that strong opposition exists. A more precise distinction between protest, civil disobedience, and criminal acts would clarify your position. By resorting to broad disparagement, your argument is weakened rather than strengthened.
If you want to peacefully protest or lobby Congress to change the laws these ICE agents are enforcing, or work to reform immigration laws to create easier legal pathways to citizenship, that would all be perfectly acceptable. Advocating for violence, lawlessness, and murder is something else entirely.
Surely you think all the Jan 6 Insurrectionists should be punished as well, right? Did you see what violence they inflicted on the capital and the police protecting it? Or do you actually see people like Ashley Babbit as heroes too?
Due process and all that.
This is what is the problem. And then there is the way the current administration uses this as effectively a way to terrorize the population rather than to simply enforce the law. It's just red meat for the base, and ineffective at that.
But: Don't forget to march in lockstep. And remember those jobs that were stolen when you can't afford your groceries anymore.
Every time I ask for evidence, I get something like this: only tangentially related. If someone is out there doxxing and attacking ICE agents, I expect to see charges brought. There'd be public record of that.
