I don’t necessarily agree with the way that Canada handles people with past drunk driving convictions in the US, but that’s not the same thing as a blanket fee.
I live in Sweden so kinda couldn't care much less about it, lol.
Over here drinking and driving is not tolerated, no amount is considered safe exactly because giving any leeway lets a lot of people to think "I'm not incapacitated enough to not drive", killing people. It's shameful to drunk drive here, glad our traffic is not murderous like yours.
