I have hard time understanding why they didn't go with

    func printSum(a, b string) error {
        x := strconv.Atoi(a) or {
            return error
        }
        y := strconv.Atoi(b) or {
            return error
        }
        fmt.Println("result:", x + y)
        return nil
    }

or something along these lines...
