I actually loved Clippy, but I was a teenager. I think for people who were trying to get stuff done instead of playing around with a word processor, it's as annoying as those onboarding tutorials.
I think many people have a kind of half ironic nostalgia for it. Especially if you were a kid at the time, it was one of the few sort-of-fun things to mess with on a locked down school or office computer.
