Induction is one of the most fundamental proof techniques in mathematics. And every program is isomorphic to a proof in some logic. But that means if you develop a mathematical intuition of induction you also develop an intuition on programs, usually on complicated programs. That is enormously helpful in programming, unless you only want to program CRUD services and spreadsheets.
