First reaction to the current site - There's too much copy.

It's good to know your strengths and to be willing to lean on the people that you trust. It's bad to be a pushover.

Do you think she got mad because your change made the product less compelling or because she felt it undermined her status?

I agree. The copy needs trimming.

However, the article is right. If you delegate something to someone, you should discuss with them before (or occasionally after) overriding their decisions. If you do that too often, they may not be compatible with your vision for that position, in which case you should find someone who is.
