How did you keep your Spotify playlists useful after all that time?

Mine start to rot in less than a year. On all my playlists large percentage of the songs just disappear after a while. Whether that's because songs were removed from Spotify due to licensing agreements expiring, the artist deleting them for some other reason I don't know, but the end result is a really frustrating user experience.
