Maybe. Disallowing throwaway accounts is also a way to capture real data on real people.

That's the whole point in preventing abuse. Compute isn't free. Those who don't like this are free to use Cakewalk instead

The alternative is collecting phone numbers by the way, which in contrast to auth from third parties isn't free

Yeah, I was sad to see that. It's in beta so here's hoping they provide another option at some point.
