I don't know the capabilities of such weapon systems, all I see is what we have on TV: a threat was identified as a moving vehicule, usually a bright shape on a black and white IR/thermal monitor.

And even if that weapon system was able to perform a high quality visible light magnification... how do know this is not a trick from the opponents?
