It has this EagleCam device which is supposed to have been ejected from the craft when it was 30m off the surface to capture images of the landing, see Wiki:

It seems a bit iffy to change the mass of the craft like that while landing. The weak signal might be due to the craft having fallen over on its side, but time will tell.

Ok, I consider those images lost.

Is it literally using WiFi as in wireless Ethernet via the standard bands?

(As far as I know, Wi-Fi is an alternative to Ethernet, not wireless Ethernet.)

I've looked at a few articles and it does look like they're actually using Wi-Fi.

(This will no doubt confuse some non-techie people, who use "Wi-Fi" to mean "an Internet connection".)
