The short version: It's a concern, but a distant secondary concern. The issue is the current practice of killing donkeys would be "wrong" even if it had a lot of legitimate medicinal value.

I am not sure how or if we're actually disagreeing as I did explicitly say that donkey collagen should stay in donkies.

JELL-O and most pill capsules are made from animal products too.

The BBC failed to inform because I'm still confused if collagen extraction relies on recycling dead animal carcasses rather than actively raising and killing animals for slaughter.

Isn't bioengineering at the point we could just clone the cells and sell them?

Seems cheaper to engineer than this....and more ethical
