I would have more trust in a car that is subject to these challenges and get security fixes, than an unchallenged brand.

Are there any such cars left? You’d probably have to pull the SIM on any modern vehicle to accomplish that.

To win for to receive their hardware and debug their crappy software for free at time you pay the maintenance costs. Professionals are not going to take the bait.

If the car crashes without being your fault (or when the car crashes in self-driving mode), the insurance will claim it is your fault.

The ability to disconnect wireless should be mandatory, and done via a hardware switch.

The article you shared is about cybertrucks where there is a Year's long reservation queue and Tesla doesn't want the cars to be considered a 250K+ purchase. That's about prevent scalping. A car you win at pwn2own wouldn't have such restrictions.

And F150 Lightning. It's pretty much par for the course these days for cars in short supply and I suppose the intentions are good, to keep people from jacking up the price, but I guess dealers do that instead?
