I often have GPT-4 translate C code fragments into Nim for me because I find Nim’s readability enhances clarity, allowing me to catch more details in a shorter amount of time. But I'm aware that this is probably a personal preference thing.
I did a bunch of PRs last year on c2nim, which can parse and translate most C code now. The hardest was handling C function pointers that take function pointers. The C for those is hard to parse and easy to second guess, but Nim makes it a breeze.
That's awesome, I have used c2nim frequently in the past, it's easy to forget its existence with LLMs now being able to fullfill similar goals.
Yah it’d be great to combine the two and run it locally.
