You shouldn't. I'm sure there are many despicable people who did so on the wrong principles. You need to add that those principles are compatible with yours.

No, one way or another you'll have to decide what is good and what is not, with the naughty "freedom" to make a mistake. That is the basis of ethics: it can't be proved.

To be waterproof then: You should admire moral people who stand for their convictions
