Why would any sensible person want to run Windows apps on Linux?

Perhaps to gain access to software availability and compatibility and stability that is lacking under Linux.

But the obvious catch 22 with Wine is that success only helps perpetuate the issues it is attempting to overcome.

Why try to maintain a multitude of ever changing Linux builds when you can build for Windows and let Wine deal with all the distro compatibility headaches?
