Yes, Steen is (currently) considered to be the same as Jan Steen.

That's the kind of info that I'm missing not being thoroughly knowledgeable with each country's culture.

Fortunately, it is easy to remedy from the equivalents.js file, as you correctly noticed. I'll modify it and see what comes out.
