Years ago I ran a photo collection that was based on a WordPress blog, I rolled out around 30+ images a day (each as a separate blog entry) on a sustained basis for more than two years and was pretty aggressive about creating incoming links.

In the first few weeks I noticed that Bing had flagged me as a spam site and they seemed to do a manual review, then did a complete reindex, and were sending me a lot more traffic pretty quickly after that.

Do you think that would still happen today (the review and reversal of flagging)? I'd guess nowadays for any operator that small, a human would never even be involved with banning them.

My experience over the long term is that you are much more likely to have dealings with people at Microsoft than other "big tech" companies. More than once I've been contacted by people at Microsoft about compatibility issues my web sites have had with IE and Edge (e.g. they'd tell me that a compatibility hack I used would not longer be necessary)

I've never heard a word from Netscape, Mozilla, Apple, Opera or any of the rest of them.

It's a powerful story, and frankly, it boosted my confidence. Thank you.
