Ask HN: Is posting 10 blog posts a day Spam?

I have an idea for a blog on technical topics where I set myself a challenge to write 1000 blog posts. But a friend of mine says that publishing such a series of posts can be perceived as a spam site by search engines. Do you think this effort will be perceived as spam? Note: I won't use ChatGPT, I will write everything by hand!

Years ago I ran a photo collection that was based on a WordPress blog, I rolled out around 30+ images a day (each as a separate blog entry) on a sustained basis for more than two years and was pretty aggressive about creating incoming links.

In the first few weeks I noticed that Bing had flagged me as a spam site and they seemed to do a manual review, then did a complete reindex, and were sending me a lot more traffic pretty quickly after that.

Do you think that would still happen today (the review and reversal of flagging)? I'd guess nowadays for any operator that small, a human would never even be involved with banning them.

My experience over the long term is that you are much more likely to have dealings with people at Microsoft than other "big tech" companies. More than once I've been contacted by people at Microsoft about compatibility issues my web sites have had with IE and Edge (e.g. they'd tell me that a compatibility hack I used would not longer be necessary)

I've never heard a word from Netscape, Mozilla, Apple, Opera or any of the rest of them.

Spam isn't spam because of the volume, but because of the quality.

It’s spam if what you are publishing is spam. It’s simple as that.

Why not just schedule them to post once a day or every few days? 10 a day is also overwhelming for a reader

I don't think every reader will read them all. For example, I know a lot of blogs, but I don't read every post. I will share in certain categories. Those who are interested will follow those categories. At that time, there will be 1 or 2 posts a day for him.

How long will it take you to write a quality well informed technical post?

In a few hours. But I've been thinking about what to write for a week. First I'll come up with 1000 blog titles (I've come up with 400 post ideas. but I'm having a hard time coming up with them now.) Then it will be easier for me to write.

Of course, I have some blog post ideas, but it may take weeks to make them. We'll see about that in time.

If each posts might take you two hours, is there any real danger of you publishing more than one or two a day?
