Which jibes well with my experience of high level management types. There is a lot that can fly under the radar in person that when filtered through a screen makes it easier for even the socially awkward or anxious to muster a defense.
I don't understand this at all. Why does being very friendly preclude good debate? The two things don't seem mutually exclusive to me. The opposite, in fact. The most productive debates are ones where people are being friendly when they're engaging in them. When people aren't friendly (or at least civil), proper debate becomes impossible.
