I'll never understand how World of Tanks is more popular than War Thunder. World of Tanks is just health bars. In War Thunder you can actually think like a tank and use tactics against your enemy, especially in Realistic mode battles. You can actually survive by using the tank's strengths to advantage. Seems like it would be infuriating to die getting hit by a shell that literally cannot penetrate the hull just because I ran out of magic numbers.

World of Tanks also has what you describe, but it's not as deep. The health bar is a way of visualizing all this, but you can get through the whole game with 1 hp left and defeat the enemy team by avoiding being hit and bouncing shells with your heavy armor if you're well angled. You also need to hide your weak points.

For sure, it's more of an arcade game than War Thunder but for many that's a plus.
