Every time I read a post about the sublime nature of Lisp I end up feeling stupid. I read SICP and didn't really "get" it. I felt like it was just another language, but the structure of the language makes it a bit more obvious how scoping and closures work-- as well as being easier to compose functions of functions. Forth gave me a little bit more of an "aha" moment, but still no enlightenment.
I have never used either language to actually build anything useful, so maybe that's part of it.
