To me the use of the word “integration” is a bad smell.
It seems to be a little known secret that coding around HTTP APIs is the easiest kind of coding that there is with the exception that OAuth and other authentication systems can turn a 30 minute project into a 3 day project. (Don’t believe me? I’ve got some ‘simple’ questions about CSS and React that will have most of your scratching your heads.)
Call it “integration” now and the sharks can smell blood and start up startups and buy a lot of ads and generate a lot of blog spam to produce products that make the problem harder instead of easier and, worse yet, create lock-in.
