you'd think that an article about how facebook bought the erlang-implemented whatsapp because facebook messenger was less popular would bother to mention that facebook messenger used bob ippolito's mochi media's mochiweb, an erlang web server, to handle the comet connections that allowed facebook messenger to deliver asynchronous notifications to web browsers

that is, facebook messenger was also to a significant extent written in erlang, though i don't have any insight into how much of the internal facebook messenger system was erlang-based (i imagine probably not that much)

also why does the article say
