You say that, but I can take an SSD out of its wrapper, fit it to a PC, put an Ubuntu USB stick in, and have a fully-functioning machine in five minutes without actually having to interact with it in any way.

What else can you recommend that does that?

Fedora. Boot stick, select the drive you want to install to, click install.

Why would I choose Fedora over Ubuntu?

Because Fedora doesn't force Snap on you or try to put ads in your environment.

There's also Linux Mint and Debian if you're hell bent on apt. They usually work right out of the box like Ubuntu does.

Well, most linux users and computer users in general disagree with you. I personally loathe snap and will not use software that is packaged only in snap. I use my distro just fine, far from useless.

But you're free to add snap to anything you like. The problem with Ubuntu is forcing it on users, not simply that snap exists.

Can you explain what you think is wrong with snap?

You didn't ask in your previous comment why you would want X over Ubuntu.

You asked what other distro would get you going as quickly as Ubuntu.

Most distros have installers. Even Arch, which I installed recently, had just a couple choices to make and hit enter a few times.
