hey! author of the post here. I wanted to document all of it, so I went overboard with the links in the end. My Go implementation can be safely removed from here, as it is in the nascent stages. I would recommend going through Pekka's repo for code.

I found this a little difficult to follow, because you show a table and say that it contains a typo, but you don't directly say which part of the text needs to be changed.

I think the words "V is visible only if TE is not T" are intended to replace the entire text in the bottom-right cell of Table 2; is that right?

Hey, thank you for reading and that's right. Entire text of the column needs to be changed.

Also, I wrote another post explaining the issue in detail - https://avi.im/blag/2023/hekaton-paper-typo/

I will update both posts and clarify this!

edit: I updated the posts

And the Discord server where (some of) it happened: https://discord.gg/PmmShtF7WS. #dbs channel.

Disclosure: I run the server.

Andy Pavlo is incredible. I studied EE and have learned about databases through his lectures.

The diversity of systems Andy covers is quite impressive. I've subscribed to his (CMU Databse Group) videos for quite a while, but to be honest, I haven't been watching many. This post was a good reminder to look around again, and wow, there's just so many databases covered, & many of them are very modern & new. It's impressive range.

Andy's lectures also contain so much rich information, many not out there on the internet, and some very entertaining. I love these bits about the history and random trivia.

Here is a bit about the paper titles - "This is the best ever on in-memory multi-version concurrency control" - https://youtu.be/1Od_SuOQshM?t=1124

Here is something about 2PL, SQL standards and isolation levels - https://youtu.be/BShOt5gYiPs?t=39
