Sorry, what is this elephant that you speak of? There are many theories about pretty much all COVID related things. You can ascribe significance to any of them without taking ownership if you are worried about being associated with something.
For anyone curious I'm pretty sure he means the vaccine and side effects
I think it's more likely that they are questioning if long covid actually exists/isn't psychosomatic, given the context of the conversation
