I loved Snow Crash, but I found the tech in his book, The Diamond Age: Or, a Young Lady's Illustrated Primer, to be more compelling.

From earlier threads on hacker news it motivated me to read snow crash. However the book was very difficult to finish. I literally used spark notes to finish it, it got so long in the tooth and boring towards the end.

Is it just me? I like books like the three body problem that are entertaining but snow crash was like a much much worse version of the da Vinci code with some VR thrown in.

For me it was the middle part. The end catched me again.

Da Vinci Code was released after Snow Crash and VR was different in 1993.

The Diamond Age is my favorite novel of all time.

... except for that one scene.

I feel like this describes every Stephenson book I've read, Snow Crash among them.
