I play PC games because I like having a comfortable gaming chair, a keyboard and a mouse in front of a large screen. I've never understood the point of the Steam Deck - if I want to play 'mobile friendly games' I'll use my switch, but the games are definitely not the sort of games I'd play on the PC.

I already spend 8 to 12 hours a day in that "keyboard and mouse" position for work... I ended up never playing any PC games (other than a few Civ games here and there) because of that.

The Steam Deck is great because you can play anywhere. On the couch, a net, in bed.

And the Switch is only comparable to the Deck in form factors. The Deck has way more gaming options and freedom. I bough one in place of the Switch, but I can imagine that if like just the Switch games, it doesn't really make sense to have both.

Sure, each to their own. I'd just argue that comments like the one that concludes the article, 'Could the 2020s become the decade when mainstream PC gaming turns handheld?' sound about as credible as the hype around how the iPad was going to replace the desktop.
