Apologies, I was a little bit sarcastic and I shouldn’t have been. They are striking because they are unexpected.
They are beautiful in how they are out of the ordinary, but also difficult to digest for one’s eyes. Orange is complementary colour of blue and green is close to blue as a colour, which produces some visual vibration.
The real HN page in contrast is “nicer” and more “design-aware”, but also bland. Your colour choices are harder on legibility and less standard, but interesting and original in an artistic way. As somebody interested in these kinds of things, I found that fascinating.
