Even though you said you don't have a good answer, you gave me lots of food for thought and stuff to check out.

Out of interest, if you would start a side project tomorrow, what tech would you use?

For web apps, I'm a big fan of nextjs and ruby on rails. The app I'm working on now is just next + prisma/postgres. I wish there was a rails of typescript (with the same level of community adoption), but composing some npm packages is not that bad if you're OK structuring the source yourself.
