why would anyone try to cheat self checkouts. there are staff often literally watching you the whole time.
Are you asking why anybody would steal? Or just why people who steal would do so in this manner instead of putting an item under their shirt even though they're on camera, or just running out of the store with it?
Near me there are 2 or 3 cameras per checkout, plus additional cameras for the area.
Peanuts are kind of expensive these days though. ;)
