There's no free lunch.

They are growing cells in vitro and need to provide all the nutrients they need. Thus, to produce, say, 1 ton of wood this way they need to somehow produce at least 1 ton of nutrients...

There are probably interesting uses for this tech for niche products but perhaps not at scale.
