For reasons I find hard to explain, some Tolkien fans amongst the less well socially adjusted seem to think that the issues with the Amazon show are linked to identity politics and not the terrible writing, awful pacing and generally uninteresting story.
I wish they hadn't changed the stories as much as they have and didn't enjoy the series as much as I could have, but it is what it is. "The woke" however is just straight up nonsense. Using non-white actors in the series is fine. If the root node author was jarred by people of color, then that's on the OP for being offended. Diversity is not a bad thing, and introspection for getting mad at being inclusive in a fantasy series is probably something one should dwell on for a bit.
But yeah as it turns out this community is flooded with sheltered middle aged men who have been told their whole lives they are brilliant, and think that empathy is somehow a waste of energy or something.
