It's quite possible for a plane to net higher mileage than many cars today, especially light-sport planes that only burn 5 gallons per hour or so.
I never checked mpg while taxiing but the motor would be almost idle.
I said GALLONS PER HOUR. If you're taxiing for hours, you're doing it wrong.
